Are you open intake?

No. Desert Oasis Rescue & Sanctuary operates with intention, capacity-based intake. We are not an open-intake facility and cannot accept every animal. Intake decisions are made based on space, resources, and the best interest of each animal.

What types of animals do you help?

We specialize in farm animals, including chickens, ducks, turkeys, geese, quail, goats, horses, donkeys, and mules. We also care for dogs, cats, rabbits, and other small animals on a case-by-case basis.

Do you adopt animals out?

Yes - when appropriate. Some animals are placed into carefully vetted adoptive homes, while others remain in sanctuary care for life due to medical, behavioral, or safety considerations.

How do you decide whether an animal is adopted or receives lifetime care?

Each animal is evaluated individually based on health, temperament, history, and overall well-being. Our priority is always the long-term welfare of the animal, not speed or convenience.

Can I surrender an animal to your sanctuary?

We consider surrender requests on a limited, case-by-care basis. Submission of a request does not guarantee intake. We may provide alternative resources when we are unable to help directly.

Do you accept emergency intakes?

In certain circumstances, yes, but only when capacity and resources allow. Please understand that emergencies elsewhere do not automatically create an emergency intake opening at the sanctuary.

We are based in Far East El Paso, TX. For safety reasons, our exact location is not publicly listed.

At this time, we are not open to the public. This helps us maintain a calm, safe environment for the animals and focus our resources on their care. Volunteers who would like to help with animal care can schedule a visit in advance, and we will reserve a dedicated time slot.
